no sleep and sunrises

I have yet to go to bed..why Im not sure. I crawled into bed around 1130 layed there for an hour then decided to get some work done if I had to be up. I edited 2 weddings and an engagement session and before I knew it was 530am-what! I decided to make the most of this rare occasion (sunrise) and hopped in the shower, threw some clothes on and went to take pictures. Dont get used to this whole sunrise magic hour thing...it wont happen again. Guaranteed.

 I had to include this one of Lumin, she was such a good pup while I took photos! She sat and waited, good grief she's cute.

Self compassion

This summer has been the summer of self compassion for me. I was asked a few weeks ago If I had ever heard of the term "self compassion". My answer was yes, of course I had..who hadn't? The next question was a little bit harder-am I compassionate towards myself. My answer was no. Plain and simple, Ive gone through life thinking I was a product of not good enough, not pretty enough..you get the picture. Poor me, right? How many of us look in the mirror every morning wishing they could change what they see? I would say probably most of us. Ive gone through life hating what I saw in that reflection. hating the way my nose curves slightly to the right, my thick thighs, my small chest,the freckles on my face, and oh yes I could go on. Ive been working my way through that list one by one this summer. This time Im going to learn to love every inch of me-nose,thighs and all.

There will be days when I just want to stay in my pjs and watch movies all day long...and I think its ok...at least Its ok in my books.

Everyday Style

We went to see 'we're the millers' tonight at the movies. It was one of those last minute "I guess Id watch that" kinda decision, but good grief it was a good one. I personally felt the movie was all sorts of hilarious, not a critically acclaimed movie by any means but worth the cheap tuesday ticket price for sure. I wore this skirt combo. Good choices all around.

Crop it

I bought this crop top at F21 awile back (in hawaii actually!) and hadnt worn it yet. This COULD be the start of something great, or I might never wear it again. Not sure yet.

Those shoes most men hate

Jody and I had a humorous conversation about wedges. He hates them, he told me they look like 2×4s strapped to womens feet..which made my earlier decision to skip the shoe sale at the mall a good one(wedges may or may not have been in my hand..good thing for huge feet.). The wedges I wore tonight are not 2×4s in my opinion, they are the kitten heel of wedges..trying but not quite getting there. Regardless I wore them, I will again. Wedges-love?hate?

When Jody and I first met we would go on "photo adventures" all the time. Snapping photos of eachother or just the radom things we saw. Over the past few years as our careers (or mine specifically as Jody has been full  time video for 8 years) has turned into a "full time creative" our photo walks went to the back burner. We had been talking for weeks about how we should just head out and snap some recent photos of ourselves..and it finally happened. So, selfies done our way.
